Black & White images shot on film and printed in a darkroom

Black & White

Black & White

All of my black and white photographs are shot on film which I develop and print my photographs at home. My primary film is Ilford , but I use Kodak and some other we’ll say unique films.

Black & White Infrared

Black & White Infrared

My black and white infrared photographs are shot on Kodak HIE film. The images are a challenge because there aren’t any set guidelines on how to expose and develop the film. You don’t know how much infrared light is available at the time you are shooting. You generally shoot infrared film in the summer months, May to September.

Color Images

Color Images

My color images are shot on film, the early years, and mostly digital after 2002.

Water Drop Art

Water Drop Art

Water drops are a completely different thing. It’s all about high speed and there are an endless number of options for shooting this types of image. It varies between the type of liquid you use to the viscosity of the liquid. Now lets throw in some colors, the color of the drops and the colors in the bowl. These all affect the outcome and you don’t know what you are going to get until your done.

Night Photography

Night Photography

I really enjoy night photography. It really lends it’s self well to black and white photography, it’s all about tones, textures and contrast. Color generally doesn’t come into play at night. It is more challenging to find a good subject because it tends to be more of a city type of photography since you need a little light for those highlights.

Astrophotography

Astrophotography

Astrophotography is fairly new to me. I did some in the late 1990 with film but wasn’t particularly successful at it. Digital cameras changed everything. I really enjoy the challenge of deep sky objects but light pollution is a real problem. Mix that in with cloudy nights and moonlit nights and it can be a real challenge.
